SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER | Meet Elizabeth Rivers
Elizabeth Rivers has joined Main Street Group, bringing more than 12 years of experience at a top global advertising agency, where she helped build iconic brands.
In her career, Elizabeth has worked on 360˚ marketing campaigns that span advertising, branding, digital, and shopper marketing as part of holistic campaign execution. She is excited for a role that will allow her to take a deep dive into all things retail and spend more time establishing strong relationships with clients – her favourite part of marketing.
We asked Elizabeth to sit down with us for a brief Q&A - a great opportunity, we thought, to introduce herself and speak to the expertise she brings to our team.
How did you get into retail/shopper marketing and what do you love about it?
This industry thrives on the connections you nourish – whether it’s with your clients, vendors, or partner agencies, it’s critical to support each other to reach the same end goals!
Do you have a favorite project from over the years that you still think about because it came out so well or that you’re really proud of?
I’ve had the privilege of working on several corporate sponsorships for Team Canada athletes across the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Understanding the daily blood, sweat, and tears your athletes put into their craft always inspires me to dig deeper, ask questions, and push for the best execution that champions their stories (and our Canadian pride!) on a global stage.
How do you apply your expertise in retail/shopper marketing to help MSG better serve our customers?
Again, it always goes back to the relationships you build and nourish. I want to bring that lens to MSG, positioning us not only as your E2E shopper agency but also as trusted experts in solving complex retail challenges and proactively bringing ideas to the table that drive out-of-the-box solutions!
What is your favorite part of working at MSG so far?
The people – since I walked into the building on Day 1, I have been welcomed with open arms. The kindness, sharing of knowledge, and resources have already set me up for success!
Do you have a unique perspective or philosophy that you bring to your work?
I like to keep a few things in mind:
- How does it link back to the humanity behind the target demographics? What truly makes our audience tick, and why? Our work should be rooted in human insight to best achieve the emotional connection at-shelf, that strengthens brand equity and loyalty.
- How does the work fall within the communications ecosystem? We want to show up with innovative and disruptive shopper solutions, but also holistically champion the messaging echoed throughout the purchase funnel.
- Support each other! Lift others up; we’re all on the same team.
Is there anything else our prospective clients/customers might like to know about you and how you contribute to MSG?
I am naturally curious and love collaborating to solve unique product and brand challenges. Whether it’s conducting formalized tissue sessions or spit-balling ideas over lunch, I thrive on open communication structures – because teamwork will always make the dream work!
How about outside of work? Any fun facts or hobbies? Special interests?
I am a certified cat lady (3 Tuxedos!) that take up much of my home time. But if I’m not chasing them around, you can find me cooking or gardening in the backyard (I will be giving away tomatoes and zucchini this summer, keep an eye out!).
I am also an advocate for sustainable shopping, thrifting and antiques – and have been known to tackle a furniture restoration project here and there.
What’s your drink of choice?
Now that depends on the occasion!
For every day, ice water. And I mean ICE water – my tumbler must carry the threat of causing brain freeze at any moment.
For special occasions, I will never say no to a vodka martini, spicy Caesar, or a bold Malbec.
