Careers at Main St. Group

Every few weeks someone here stands in a store looking at something they drew six months ago.

It’s on a floor, loaded with product, slightly scuffed. A shopper walks past, stops, picks something up. Or doesn’t.

That’s the part most design and marketing work never gives you, and it’s the reason people stay.

What we do

We’ve been in retail execution since 1974. We design, source, project manage, warehouse and deliver the point of sale that brands rely on in store.

Fifty years in, we’d still rather show you the store than the deck.

How we work

Small teams, close to the output.

Designers sit near engineers. Engineers sit near the people managing production. Account teams walk stores. Nobody hands work over a wall and hopes, because the chain is short enough that you can see what your decisions did.

Some roles are remote and some are on-site. That depends on the job rather than a blanket policy.

Where we are

Toronto is our head office, at 640 Main St., Woodstock, Ontario. We also work from Vancouver, San Francisco and New York.

What we look for

Curiosity, and comfort with the messy bit.

Retail execution isn’t tidy. Delivery windows move, retailers change their minds, and a design that worked on screen sometimes fails on a pallet.

We’ll be honest about the trade-off. This isn’t the work for someone who wants a brief, a deadline and no surprises. The people who do well here find the surprises interesting.

Experience gives us perspective. Curiosity keeps us moving.

What the process looks like

Three interviews. Virtual throughout, or in person where the role is on-site.

You meet the people you’d actually work with, not a panel you never see again.

Open roles

Nothing open right now.

We’d rather say that plainly than leave a page that looks abandoned. Things change, and we’d rather hear from good people before a role exists than after it’s filled.

Internships and co-op placements happen sometimes. Nothing standing, but it’s worth asking.
